Owners and wine aficionados David & Kim Swartz opened The Cork Wine Bar in the Summer of 2007, with a vision of creating Clear Lake's first and finest wine bar. Trained at The Culinary Institute of America in Napa, The Court of Master Sommeliers, and The Wine and Spirits Education Trust, David infuses the wine offerings with his extensive knowledge and passion for perfection.

In 1991, David began a career in the wine business after taking over the 3000+ bottle program at Ruth's Chris Steak House in San Antonio. He was given room to experiment, and created quite an eclectic menu. However, he never lost sight of his passion for fine wine. He knew that in order to achieve his long standing dream of sharing great wine with the community; he would have to establish his own wine bar.

A Clear Lake native, Kim graduated from UT in 1996 and proceeded to USC to earn a Master's in Social Work.  After six years working in South Central Los Angeles as a school social worker, Kim moved back to Houston and began the same type of work at Willowridge High School.    

David & Kim opened the doors of The Cork Wine Bar in August of 2007.  Critics and patrons agree. The Cork Wine Bar is Clear Lake's best wine bar.
